Galena, Missouri... Nestled in the heart of Ozark Mountain Country, only a short drive to Silver Dollar City, Table Rock Lake, and the Branson area attractions, lies this sleepy little river town, rich with history.
Originally platted in 1852, and named for deposits of the ore galena near the original town site. A post office has been in operation at Galena since 1853. The Seat of Historic Stone County, both the Courthouse and Historic Y-Bridge are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Located on the banks of the James River in a remote, scenic area of the river, Galena offers floating, fishing, and camping on one of the most tranquil waterways in the State.
Float the James River at Galena and you may get to see the American Bald Eagle up close and personal. The lavish Ozark Hills provide for ample hunting and trapping.
Galena is perfect for retirement, vacationing, or year round living and is well suited for those looking for a quieter, simpler lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of the city - where folks still live by the “Golden Rule” and everyone is your friend and neighbor. The inviting quality of life along with the recreational opportunities attract visitors near and far.
Visit, vacation, and enjoy Galena.... then imagine what it would be like to return for a lifetime.
